Pepsodent Introduces Two New Variants

16-09-2003 : Hindustan Lever Limited (HLL) now has two new variants of Pepsodent toothpaste - Pepsodent Regular Fresh Flavour and Pepsodent White Family Flavour.

Gloucester Ice Cream FactoryFor the first time in India, the company has also launched a 20gm pack priced at Rs 5/-. The new low unit price pack is intended at driving penetration in rural markets and converting non-users to the benefits of Pepsodent.



The launch of the new variants reflects HLL's commitment to participating in the Oral Care market in India with its two Power Brands, Pepsodent and Close-up. These brands contribute significantly to HLL's sales and profits.



In addition to the 20 gm pack (for Rs. 5/-), the new variants are being made available at the same price points - Rs.40/- for 175 gm, Rs.20/- for 80 gm, and Rs.10/- for 40 gm.



Besides these new Pepsodent variants, the franchise also includes Pepsodent 2-in-1 and Pepsodent-G. The franchise also includes toothbrushes.



HLL Oral Care, today commands an overall market share of 33% (Jul ‘03 ORG-value shares) in the toothpaste market with its range of toothpastes under the Close-up and Pepsodent brands.
