HLL India’s Largest Marine Products Exporter For Third Year In A Row

HLL’s exports business focuses on global sourcing to Unilever for Home & Personal care Products (HPC) and Tea, and also concentrating on exports of value-added products in Marine Products, Rice and Castor, categories in which India as a country has competitive advantage.

In Marine Products, HLL offers a comprehensive portfolio, ranging from Surimi, Crabsticks to Shrimps and several value-added products, sourced across the Indian coastline through its extended fish buying network. The acquisition of Amalgam Seafood, which was completed in 2003, coupled with HLL's own facilities also gives the company a manufacturing base along the entire coastline at Chorwad (Gujarat), Mumbai, Brahmavar (Karnataka), Kochi, and Pamarru (Andhra Pradesh). HLL has expanded the Crabstick capacity at its Chorwad integrated plant, which has received the ISO 9001-2000 certification, and the Surimi capacity at its Brahmavar (Karnataka), Kochi and Mumbai outsourcing units.

HLL has consistently been developing new markets for Marine Products exports. In 2003, it developed markets in Taiwan and Australia for Surimi, and the US, Greece and Bulgaria for Crabsticks. It has acquired new customers like Icelandic, the world's third largest seafood company. In addition, HLL has also become a part of Unilever’s supply chain in seafoods for Europe too.
