Hindustan Lever announces changes in its Management Committee

Mr. Sanjiv Kakkar, currently Executive Director - Marketing & Strategy - Foods, HLL has been appointed as Executive Director - Sales and Customer Development in place of Mr. Dube and Mr. Shrijeet Mishra, currently VP Activation - Asia AMET, Unilever, based in Singapore, has been appointment as Executive Director – Foods in place of Mr. Kakkar and will be joining the Management Committee .

Mr. Ashok Gupta, currently Vice President, Legal, has been appointed Executive Director - Legal, and will replace Mr. MK Sharma in the Management Committee who will be retiring on May 31, 2007. Ms Leena Nair, currently Vice President, HR, has been appointed Executive Director, HR and will be joining the Management Committee.

The appointments are effective from June 1, 2007. Mr. Sanjiv Kakkar is already a member of the Management Committee from January 1, 2007.

Announcing the appointments, Mr. Douglas Baillie, CEO, HLL said, “The appointments reflect our strong commitment towards people development that harness experiences & synergies of talent across our functions and markets.”

Profiles

1) Mr. Sanjay Dube

Mr. Sanjay Dube (46) is a mechanical engineer from BITS Pilani and an MBA in marketing from IIM Calcutta. He joined the company in the year 1993 after stints with Lakme Ltd and Colgate Palmolive in customer development and brand management. Sanjay has worked in various capacities including Marketing Manager in the skin category and that of a Regional Manager. Sanjay then moved on to become the Category Head of Mass Market Detergents in 2000 and Vice President for Sales and Customer Development in 2004. Sanjay was appointed as the Executive Director (Sales and Customer Development) in March 2006.

2) Mr. Sanjiv Kakkar

Mr. Sanjiv Kakkar (44) is BA (Economics) and PGDM from IIM Ahmedabad with 23 years work experience. Sanjiv joined the Company in June, 1984 and has worked in various Sales and Marketing assignments. His marketing experience spans across categories including Beverages, Personal Products and Oral & Hair Care. He has also had key stints as Category Head of Oral and General Manager – Sales & Customer Management of Personal Products. He was appointed Vice President – Oral & Hair Care in May 2004. In March 2006, Sanjiv was appointed as Executive Director - Foods and joined the Management Committee on 1st January 2007.

3) Shrijeet Mishra

Shrijeet Mishra joined HLL on June 1^st 1987. His 20 year experience in the company comprises of stints in General Management, Marketing Innovation and Activation, Brand & Services Development, Sales Management and Project Management. Shrijeet has significant General Management and extensive marketing experience in FMCG Industry in a highly competitive market (Soaps, Detergents, Personal Care and Foods) in India and Asia, Africa, Middle East and Turkey. Currently Vice President, Asia, Brand Activation, across Home and Personal care brands & Foods based out of Singapore Regional office.

4) Ashok Gupta

Mr. Ashok Gupta, after acquiring Masters Degrees in Commerce & Laws, and having qualified as a Company Secretary and Cost Accountant, joined Unilever India in 1989 as Legal Manager (in Lipton India Ltd.). He moved to Hindustan Lever Limited, Bombay in 1993 where he held various assignments ranging from restructuring indirect taxation portfolio, mergers and amalgamations and securing of intellectual property rights. Mr. Gupta was then seconded to Unilever at London for a period of two years to act as Senior Legal Adviser for Central Asia, Middle East and Africa Region. He came back to Unilever India and became the Company Secretary in the year 2005 in addition to providing partnership role from Legal to Home and Personal Care business.

Mr. Gupta is a member of various industry associations and has represented the industry in various Committees constituted by the Government of India.

5) Ms Leena Nair

Ms Leena Nair (37) after completing her Bachelors in Electronic Engineering and an MBA in Personnel Management & Industrial Relations, Leena joined HLL in May 1992 as a Management Trainee. She worked as Factory Personnel Manager Madras, Personnel Manager Taloja and Personnel Manager, HO. In August 1997 she moved as Management Development Planning Manager, and moved as HR Manager – Detergents in April, 2000. In October 2004, she was appointed as General Manager - HR HPC. A gold medallist from XLRI, she has driven a number of HR interventions including performance management, has done the business partner roles for 6 to 7 years. Leena was appointed Vice President – Human Resources in March 2007. She is the first woman to have been appointed to the MC in the history of HLL.
