HUL Sankalp

In its 75th year of HUL’s existence in India, in 2008, our employees committed to volunteer one hour for each day that HUL has been in this country which collectively meant 27,375 hours of volunteering.

To fulfil this commitment, an initiative called HUL Sankalp was created which focused on sharing the social, economic, environmental and developmental needs of the real India with HUL employees. HUL Sankalp works with Indian NGOs who has helped built a network of around 70 NGOs that provide multiple volunteering opportunities on various social issues. Employees are encouraged to volunteer with their families and friends and contribute in terms of time, expertise, material and donations.

Employees volunteered for a broad range of social activities such as old homes and orphanages, tree plantation drives, blood donation camps, hygiene awareness, wholesome nutrition for children and safe drinking water.

In 2008, our employees volunteered more than 48,000 hours against a target of 27,375 hours. In 2009, we clocked more than 1,15,000 hours of volunteer work. The employee volunteering activity is now ongoing and is gaining momentum each year.
