HUL’s factory located at Khamgaon, Maharashtra was recognised at the 12th State Level Award ceremony for Excellence in Energy Conservation and Management organised by the Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA). The factory has been conferred with the 'Certificate Of Merit' for exceptional work in the field of energy conservation and management in the year 2017-18.
The evaluation process comprised shortlisting of organisations basis their energy performance, thorough scrutiny of the evaluation forms and a presentation on energy conservation initiatives to the jury members.
The Khamgaon factory has had a great year regarding its energy performance in 2017 delivering a 14% savings in the total utility cost. Also, the energy consumption at the factory dropped from 1.96 GJ/ ton of production to 1.91 GJ/ton of production. This was achieved by deploying energy efficient pumps and LED lights, steam economy improvement in the evaporation process and initiatives on water quality monitoring for eliminating scaling in the boiler tubes.
