Following the success of #PlasticBanegaFantastic last month in Mumbai, two more successful clean-up drives were held in Bengaluru and Delhi cities in February. Both events saw a turnout in large numbers, with enthusiastic citizens waking up determined to clean up the designated region.
Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) invited Bengaluru to be a part of the Start A Little Good movement, by taking plastic and turning it into something fantastic. The clean-up drive in Bengaluru was held at Narayanpura Lake on 2nd February. Nearly 600 volunteers attended, and were given disposable gloves, fluorescent vests, and masks and were allotted zones to clean up.
All the waste was collected and sorted into either dry waste or wet waste. HUL will recycle all the plastic that was collected, and transform them into innovative products such as spectacle frames or benches.
Start A Little Good has sparked conversation and curiosity, thus driving actionable change by citizens of India. The projects under this initiative aim to raise awareness and educate citizens on pressing environmental issues the country is currently facing while urging them to make little changes in their daily lives that will make a sizeable impact.
