As a part of the culmination ceremony of the Swasth Bharat Yatra, the Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) recently recognised Hindustan Unilever Limited’s (HUL) dedicated efforts towards the Swasth Bharat movement. The Certificate of Appreciation was presented to HUL by Ms Rita Teotia, Chairperson FSSAI & Ex Commerce Secretary GOI and Mr Pawan Agarwal CEO, FSSAI. Dr Sangeeta Chadha, Lead Advocacy Regulatory Affairs, HUL received the certificate on behalf of the Company.
Swasth Bharat Yatra was the world’s biggest cyclothon, dedicated to building awareness in people to eat right. Swasth Bharat Yatra, a Pan India Cycle rally, is inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's Dandi March and 'Salt Satyagraha' of 1930. Through his tireless yatras, Mahatma Gandhi led the nation towards freedom from Colonial Rule. The objective of the Swasth Bharat yatra was also to lead the nation towards freedom from diseases by cascading the message of ‘Eat Right’ to every corner of the country.
Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), has been constantly supporting the initiatives taken by the apex regulator to encourage consumers to eat the right food. As a part of HUL’s endeavour to ensure and provide safe and nutritious food to consumers, HUL along with fourteen other Food and Beverages companies, pledged their support to the Eat Right campaign launched by FSSAI in 2018. The pledge aims at reformulating the existing food products by reducing the levels of sugar, salt and fat. The pledge is in line with the Improving Health & Well-being pillar of the Unilever Sustainable Living Programme (USLP).
