Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) was awarded for the successful set-up and expansion plans of community hygiene centre - Suvidha, first-of-its-kind urban water, hygiene and sanitation community centre in one of the largest slums in Mumbai at the FICCI India Sanitation Coalition Conclave, 2019.
At the Conclave, the Company presented the contribution by Domex to fight India’s war on poor sanitation. While the Swachh Bharat Mission focuses on household toilet coverage, the next challenge is to encourage and cleaning.
Pit toilets remain unclean due to lack of awareness about cleanliness. Eventually, dirty toilets limit the use of toilets and lead to open defecation. Hence, Domex introduced an essential and affordable toilet cleaning solution, a specialist toilet cleaning powder for as low as Rs 2, designed for Indian toilets. The brand also launched a campaign ‘Pick Up The Brush’ to cut through gender and caste bias and encourage everyone to treat toilet cleaning the same as every other chore in the house.
Domex has partnered with the NGO, Population Services International to reach out to one million people based in 400 villages of Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh. The sanitation counsellors, with high engagement content formats, present the importance of setting the right examples for children and securing family health by using and cleaning toilets at home.
