Under Project Prabhat, HUL recently laid the foundation stone for the first community biogas plant in Hari Ashray Colony, Haridwar. This project is being piloted to encourage sustainable waste management in the community.
With implementing NGO partner Sugam Jagriti (Swayambhu) and local waste collection teams, door-to-door waste will be collected. Through behaviour change interventions and communication people will be guided on waste segregation. The wet waste (compostable) collected will be converted into biogas for powering street lights and the dry waste will be responsibly recovered.
Anuradha Razdan, Executive Director -HR, Hindustan Unilever addressed the community members encouraging everyone to work as a team for the betterment of society.
