HUL’s Sumerpur, Barotiwala and Khamgaon factories recognized at the 2013 Green Manufacturing Excellence Awards.

Three HUL factories bagged awards at the prestigious Green Manufacturing Excellence Awards 2013. In a rigorous audit conducted by Frost and Sullivan on the 98 participant factories across various industries – automobile, cement, refinery or pharmaceutical – the three HUL factories emerged ‘Leaders’.

HUL’s Sumerpur factory received the Leaders Award in the Medium Business category while HUL’s Barotiwala factory received the Leaders Award in the Large Business category. In the award function held on 3rd May 2013 in Mumbai, HUL’s Khamgaon factory won the prestigious Green Manufacturing Excellence Overall Leaders award by scoring the highest amongst all the participating factories.

Mr. Pradeep Banerjee, Executive Director, Supply Chain, Hindustan Unilever Limited who graced the awards ceremony as the Chief Guest said, “We need to look at new models of growth that will decouple our growth from environmental impact. It makes immense business sense. Becoming green does not add costs. In fact, it is the other way around. The pursuit of sustainable growth will enable us to find new models of growth, which will not only be sustainable but will also deliver savings.”
