Hindustan Unilever’s Export Division has successfully built Gold Seal Indus Valley basmati as a premium brand in various countries in the Middle East with a presence dating back to 1986. The brand has established a unique identity and premium positioning among loyal consumers.

Basmati rice originated in India and only the aromatic variant of rice grown in the delta of the Indus river can be called Basmati. Indus Valley, home of the Sindhu River is the original birth place of Basmati rice. The word Basmati originates from ‘Bas’ means ‘Fragrant’ and ‘mati’ means ‘queen’ so Basmati means ‘the fragrant queen’.
