The factory’s excellence in ecological management systems and water & energy conservation was appreciated. The factory was also applauded for creating a positive community impact in Khamgaon through Hindustan Unilever Limited’s (HUL) project ‘Prabhat’ a community development initiative. As part of Project Prabhat Several check-dams have been built in water-scarce areas of Khamgaon benefitting farmers.

By 2030, Unilever’s goal is to halve the environmental footprint in the making and use of its products as it grows its business. This commitment is a significant step in reducing the company’s environmental footprint globally. HUL’s Khamgaon factory has always been a front-runner in driving the Company’s sustainability agenda. The commitment is reflected in the environment KPIs of the factory - there has been ~50% decrease in per ton water and energy consumption at the factory Vs the 2008 baseline.
