Unilever today announced the elevation of Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (HUL), Chairman and Managing Director, Sanjiv Mehta as President of Unilever, South Asia. He will also be a member of the Unilever Leadership Executive (ULE). The change is effective from May 1, 2019. Sanjiv will continue as Chairman and Managing Director of HUL.

During Sanjiv’s tenure at the helm of HUL, the business has seen tremendous progress. The Company has delivered on the 4-G growth model embracing consistent, competitive, profitable and importantly, responsible growth. The Company has reinvented its Customer Development strategy and adopted the WIMI (Winning in Many Indias) structure creating 14 consumer clusters with distinct strategies for each cluster.
The Company has also set up 15 CCBTs (Country Category Business Teams) with significant empowerment to the teams to make the business nimble and agile. His tenure has also seen a tremendous focus on the Company’s M&A strategy with acquisitions of brands - Indulekha, Adityaa Milk and, most recently, the proposed merger of GSK Consumer Healthcare with HUL. The Company has also made impressive progress on its ‘Reimagining HUL’ agenda where data and digital technology are at the centre stage.
