For Aniket Preetish, change begins when younger members of a community get involved. As a Swachhata Doot (messenger of cleanliness) in Haldia, West Bengal, Aniket’s fundamental strategy was to spread awareness on clean habits and hygiene among young people.
Aniket, working at HUL’s Haldia factory, has been volunteering as Swachhata Doot. In 2018, he and his colleagues reached out to more than 41,000 people in and around Haldia, inspiring them to adopt cleanliness as a way of life. Many of them were young people and school children, and Aniket enjoyed interacting with them.
As a volunteer, Aniket believes that sowing the ideas of cleanliness and hygiene among the younger generation can shape their actions, and pave the way for a clean village, clean city and clean country. He has led the initiative from the front, garnering support from colleagues who participated in group cleaning activities as well.
The enthusiastic response from the community and especially students from nearby villages has motivated him to continue his efforts.
