Prabhat turns six, touches four million lives
With over six years of positive interventions in communities, Hindustan Unilever Limited’s (HUL) Project Prabhat has truly embodied the spirit of sustainable and inclusive community development, reaching out to over four million people across India. This feat has been achieved through the passion, commitment and exceptional stewardship demonstrated by HUL factories, employee volunteers spread across the length and breadth of the country and community participation.
On December 6th, 2019 Prabhat celebrated its sixth anniversary in the HUL Head Office in Mumbai in the presence of the HUL Management, employees, Prabhat NGO partners and beneficiaries. Ms Sangitha Pawar, a Prabhat beneficiary from Nasik who weaves Paithani sarees, was the special guest. We also launched the first Prabhat Product Catalogue titled ‘Share The Happiness’ powered by rural women beneficiaries.
Further, Prabhat Awards 2019 recognised and felicitated teams for their work in livelihood generation, health & well-being advocacy and water conservation. Prabhat champions who demonstrated ownership, innovation, respect and purpose in action through Prabhat throughout the year were felicitated during the event.
Finally, a unique brand partnership with Lifebuoy was announced under Prabhat’s plastic waste management initiative wherein a first-of-its-kind recycled plastic handwash station was unveiled. Through this initiative, plastic waste will be collected from thirteen Ghats along the Ganges in Haridwar. It will then be converted to compressed sheets that will be used to make handwashing stations under Prabhat’s livelihood intervention through a women self-help group. These handwashing stations will be deployed in schools in Haridwar, contributing to Lifebuoy’s brand mission to spread the importance of good handwashing habits around the world.
