DOMEX partners with the World Toilet Organization

Domex is proud to be the first ever sponsor of the World Toilet Day, observed internationally on November 19, every year.

DOMEX, one of the world’s leading toilet cleaner brands has partnered with the World Toilet Organisation (WTO), a global non-profit organisation committed to improving toilet and sanitation conditions worldwide. Domex is proud to be the first ever sponsor of the World Toilet Day, observed internationally on November 19, every year.

Like the WTO, Domex is also committed to raising awareness of sanitation and good hygiene practices in order to improve the health of children and families globally. Domex kicked off a unique initiative last week, in New Delhi, whereby it has taken up hygienic maintenance and branded toilets in a few Rajdhanitrains.Trains are the most commonly used long distance public transport in India and toilet hygiene improvement will go a long way in improving conditions for commuters. Recently representatives for Domex and WTO took a three-metro tour to further awareness of public and in-home toilet hygiene.

According to Jack Sim, Founder-World Toilet Organisation,“2.5 billion people across the world live without sanitation and have no option but defecating out in the open. Up to 60 percent of all diseases in Rural communities are caused by poor hygiene and sanitation condition. I believe, investment in toilet infrastructure and also in its hygiene through effective cleaning will provide long term health care savings. With a partner like DOMEX, which has 80 years of experience in hygiene heritage, we aim to break the taboo of toilet and toilet hygiene and put related issues on global agenda.”

Sudhanshu Vats, Vice President Home Care and Skin Cleansing-Hindustan Unilever Ltdsays, “DOMEX is the first ever sponsor of World Toilet Day globally and in India. We are committed to educating consumers about effective sanitation practices. Both Domex and the World Toilet Organization understand the role toilets play in the hygiene cycle and the significance of clean toilets in preventing the spread of harmful disease causing germs. Consumers tend to use water or buy cheap proxy products to make small savings. Our endeavour is to educate them about the importance of investing in effective cleaning today for a healthier life tomorrow.”

Carolyn Jones, Global Hygiene Manager-Unileversaid, “DOMEX brings alive the science behind good sanitation. We are passionate advocates of health benefits that come from having cleaner toilets. Sodium Hypochlorite, the active ingredient in DOMEX thick bleach, kills all visible and invisible germs, including all bacteria and viruses that are passed from the body in faeces. It is vital for people around the world to use thick bleach when they clean their toilet to minimise the spread of germs at home.”

WTO is the organizer of the very successful series of World Toilet Summits and World Toilet Expo and Forum. WTO also declared its founding day of November 19 as "World Toilet Day" and this is now being celebrated by members all over the world. Thus increasing awareness and generating local action for better sanitation.
