HUL moves to new campus
The new state-of the-art HUL campus is spread over 12.5 acres of land and will house over 1600 employees.
January 25, 2010: Hindustan Unilever Limited today moved its corporate office to a new campus in Andheri (E), Mumbai, from its existing office at Backbay Reclamation, Mumbai, the landmark Lever House, where it was housed for over 46 years. The new state-of the-art HUL campus is spread over 12.5 acres of land and will house over 1600 employees.
HUL first announced its plan to shift to the new HUL campus in 2006. The idea behind the move was to integrate various business processes under ‘One HUL Campus’ and to further integrate business processes and leverage scale and synergies across the organization.
The transition to the new campus was done in two phases. In Phase I, the Foods business team was relocated from Bangalore to the erstwhile Mumbai Head office on January 1, 2007. In Phase II, the Head Office was relocated to the new Andheri campus on January 25th, 2010.
The new campus creates a synergized work space that is also environmentally sustainable, using resources intelligently and efficiently. The campus successfully brings Vitality to life offering various facilities to employees including convenience stores, a library, a food court, an occupational health centre,a gym, a sports & recreation centre and a day care centre.
The campus uses green and energy efficient building features such as rainwater harvesting, optimal use of glass and use of ‘zero-waste’ water recycling concepts. The building design and landscaping was done in a manner as to enhance the green cover in the campus.
