HUL contributes over one crore to support Uttarakhand flood victims

Hands over contribution of Rs. 60 lakh to Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand towards flood relief.

Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) has contributed over Rs. 1 crore to support Uttarakhand flood victims. As part of this contribution –cheque of over Rs. 60 lakhs -- was handed over to theChief Secretary Subhash Kumar, Uttarakhandon 16th October,2013. This donation comprised of voluntary contribution worth over Rs. 30 lakh by HUL employees. The company matched this amount to reach a total of over Rs. 60 lakhs.

Apart from monetary contribution, relief material worth Rs. 25 lakh was donated in August this year.The relief material comprised of essential items such as soaps, toothpastes, tooth brushes, tea, hair oil, candles, matchsticks, utensils and slippers. The material was distributed to four districts that were affected the most by floods -- Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Uttarkashi and Pithoragarh. 

In addition to this, a sum of Rs. 25 lakh was contributed as an immediate relief towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in June earlier this year.

HUL has always been at the forefront in its call for national duty and caring for the community. The company has always been led by the belief that ‘what is good for India is good for HUL.’
