Mr Deepak Subramanian (47) has been appointed as the Executive Director, Home Care at Hindustan Unilever Limited.
He has had a global career with Unilever, working in Sales and Marketing and at board-level general management roles more recently. After stints in Hindustan Unilever Limited as Marketing Manager Kissan and Regional Brand Director Asia Vitality Foods, Deepak moved to Europe, becoming a member of the Unilever Executive Board in Poland & the Baltics as Vice-President Marketing and later as the Vice-President for Foods & Refreshment for Central & Eastern Europe (CEE). On top of turning around the business, he also landed a new 1CEE organisation and Talent Strategy, the benefits of which are seen even today.
In 2015, he moved to the Homecare Division and had done various roles based in Singapore. He has been the Divisional Vice-President for Homecare for South-East Asia / ANZ and the General Manager for the Homecare Business Unit in the Philippines. Most recently, he was also the Global Head of the Fabric Enhancers Category. In SEAA, Deepak significantly improved the profitability whilst improving top-line growth and helped strengthen the business through highly challenging business conditions during the COVID pandemic. In his global role, Deepak has helped transform the Fabric Enhancers Category to become future-fit and in line with the Home Care Clean Future Mission, strengthening the fundamentals of growth and driving turnaround in key markets like Brazil, Turkey, Vietnam whilst accelerating growth in India and China.
Deepak’s Leadership Purpose is to 'Inspire others to reach the Utopia they thought they couldn’t reach.' He strives to live this purpose at work and beyond. He is a Member of the Global Advisory Board of Insider (a Global Growth Management Platform) and an Advisor /Mentor / Investor in deeptech and sustainability start-ups and Venture Capital Funds like Antler and 500.
Deepak joined Unilever as a Management Trainee in India in 1995, after completing his B.A. (Honours) in Economics from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi. He is a graduate of the Executive Programme at Singularity University and a Certified Chair from the Advisory Board Centre, Australia.
